Coenraad Krijger (1971) is director of IUCN NL, the Dutch national committee of the International Union for Conservation of Nature, the world’s largest and most diverse environmental network. At IUCN NL, Coenraad leads the organization’s forty staff who work towards a just world that values and conserves nature.
A Wageningen University graduate in biology, Krijger conducted ecological field research in Africa, Central and Latin America, resulting in a PhD title in tropical biodiversity in 2000 at Leiden University. Since 2001, Krijger has held several positions at The Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO), including a leading role at NWO-WOTRO Science for Global Development, an independent foundation within NOW that focuses on global issues. Most recently, he held a position in the board of directors and was responsible for policy development.
